Southeastern Children’s Home Plans 4th Annual Wade Scharff Memorial Golf Tournament

IT’S TIME FOR THE 4TH ANNUAL WADE SCHARFF MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT! We hope that you will be able to participate this year for this FUN event. We still have sponsorships available, registration for players has begun, and volunteers can sign up to assist us during this event.

If you can not participate please pass along the information to your friends and family. This great event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at River Falls Plantation in Duncan, SC.
The style will be 4-person scramble with captain’s choice. Tournament begins at 8:30am.
It’s easy for players to register: Save $10/player by registering before August 19th to receive the early bird special of $75/player. To pay by check please complete the form attached and mail a check to SECH, PO Box 339, Duncan, SC 29334. To pay online complete the form that is available at www.sech.org on the events page; then click the donate button at the bottom of the page to pay by credit card.

The registration fee includes: green and cart fees, golf balls, driving range, snacks, prizes, and lunch.

This is a great way to support the work we do with abused children and have a fun day of golf at the same time. Mulligans and other items will be available for purchase and for silent auction before the tournament begins.

Southeastern Children’s Home Plans Two Events in September

Saturday, September 11th we will host our bi-annual FREE Family Fun Day that is open to the community. There will be tons of fun, fellowship, games for children, and food. See attachment for details. Join us 11am until 1:30pm on our campus for a great time.

Then, on Saturday, September 25th the SECH family is thrilled to invite you to join us for the 3rd Annual Wade Scharff Memorial Golf Tournament supporting SECH. This years event looks to be our most attended and exciting event yet. With a large number of folks signed up already, we want to make sure you don’t miss out on a chance to have a great time while supporting the children at SECH.

Whether you are a serious golfer looking for victory, or someone who doesn’t even know what a golf course looks like there will be something for you. This year’s tournament will be a shot gun start on the morning of September 25th at the River Falls Plantation Golf Course. Along with great golf there will be awesome food, free drinks/snacks as well as some amazing prizes available through our door prizes and silent auction. Some of our prizes include golf apparel, equipment, getaways (FL, NC, SC, TN, GA) gift certificates and much, much more.

Southeastern Children’s Home to Benefit from BMW Charity Pro AM Golf Tournament

Southeastern Children’s Home has been selected as one of the charities to benefit from the BMW Charity Pro AM golf tournament.
Tickets are on sale now at Southeastern. Tickets are $25/person. 100% of ticket sale will be donated back to Southeastern. See tournament details below.

What: Pros vs. celebrities at 3 local golf clubs. Sure to be lots of fun! This is the only tournament on the Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with Nationwide Tour professionals in a four-day better-ball competition over three courses. Teams will advance by score to Sunday’s final round at Thornblade Club.
When: May 13-16, 2010
Where: The Carolina Country Club, Bright’s Creek Golf Club, and Thornblade Club
Includes: Unlimited entry to any of the three golf clubs during the tournament, complimentary parking and shuttle to the golf courses.
Why: 100% of SECH ticket sales will be donated back to Southeastern. You can make a difference to the children we serve at SECH. Every time you support SECH you make a positive impact on the lives of many abused/neglected children we serve through our residential group homes.

3rd Annual Benefit Yard Sale - Saturday, April 24, 2010 behind the Family Service Center located at 115 Children’s Way, Duncan, SC 29334. ACCEPTING DONATIONS NOW! Help us raise much needed funds for the recreational needs of the children living at Southeastern Children’s Home. Volunteers are needed for set up and day of sale.

BMW Charity Pro Am Golf Tournament -May 13-16, 2010 TICKETS ON SALE at Southeastern Children’s Home, participating Suntrust Banks, Soleil Salon & Day Spa, and Ray’s Vacuuming & Sewing. $25/person allows you access to all three courses during the four day event. Volunteers are needed during the tournament. $40 registration fee required for volunteers. Volunteer package is valued at $175.00 plus volunteer for 2 days and 100% of your registration fee will be donated to Southeastern Children’s Home.

20th Annual Benefit Auction – Saturday, May 22, 2010 located at the Annex Building of Central Church of Christ

Spartanburg children’s home receives national grant

AFL Network Services announces that the Southeastern Children’s Home (SECH) is the recipient of a $4,750 Fujikura Foundation grant to support counseling session for families in the community in need of financial assistance. The areas of counseling include, but are not limited to, stress management, family strengthening, parenting, anger management and mild depression.

“As the lack of stability in the economy continues, additional stress is being placed on the nuclear family,” said Robert Kimberly, Executive Director of SECH. “From past experience, we know this type of trauma can and often does lead to family dysfunction, which then leads to child abuse or neglect.”

“As a recipient of the Fujikura Foundation grant, SECH will be able to provide individual adult counseling, family counseling and adolescent counseling. We are grateful to the Foundation for their recognition of this need in our community, especially now, when we have seen a greater volume of inquiries for assistance with both counseling and the inability to pay for sessions.”

Southeastern Children’s Home and Counseling Center is a faith-based organization that provides care to needy children and families through residential group home care, foster care, adoption, maternity services and counseling.

“AFL is excited to have the opportunity to support SECH and its programs,” said Kent Brown, Vice President of AFL Network Services, Enterprise Division. “We are committed to strengthening families in the communities where AFL operates and believe we will have a positive impact serving SECH’s efforts.”

Southeastern Children’s Home is having a “Cycling for Children” event on Saturday, July 25th.
