Mark your calendars for the annual Gala and Auction at Mid-WEstern. The date has been set for Friday, February10, 2010 and will be hld again at the RSVP Reception facility in Cincinnati. Mid-Western is already gathering items for the Silent Auction and the Live Auction. If you are interested in donating anything to be auctioned, please contact Judy at 513-877-2141.

Mid-Western Children’s Home “paves the way” for their Children

Help us “pave the way” to a brighter future for our children. By investing in an engraved paver, you will also be investing in the future of a resident child here at Mid-Western. Many of our children have nowhere to go after they leave us. Through our Independent Living Program, these children will have an opportunity to begin building their young lives. By providing them with a place to live, they will be free to pursue additional education and, ultimately, a job that will enable them to transition into a life outside Mid-Western.

When: Saturday, August 6, beginning at 1:00 P.M.
Where: Fairfield Greens, 2200 John Gray Road, Fairfield, Ohio. Directions from I 275, Exit 36 (Rt. 127-Hamilton Avenue). North 1.6 miles to John Gray Road. Turn right and proceed 1.9 miles. Course entrance on left.
Prizes: Hole in one prizes – $10,000 cach / new car.

Mid-Western Children’s Home Invitational Basketball Tournament

It is once again time to start planning for our annual MCH Invitational Basketball Tournament. The two day event will be held Friday evening April 9^th and Saturday April 10^th. As in the past we will use the Middletown location (Crosspointe Church of Christ) for some games on Friday evening with all of Saturday’s games to be played on the MCH campus.

It is our intention to once again outfit each team with up to 15 reversible jerseys, in order to facilitate this we will need your team’s registration and entry fee earlier than we have in the past. The entry fee is $250.00 and is due on or before February 23^rd. Each team is limited to 15 players per game and; if we are able to order the jerseys; would receive a maximum of 15 jerseys. If you have more than 15 willing players you may contact me for the options available.

We will also be once again offering two tournament divisions; competitive division (Div. I)and a recreational division (Div. II). In order to accomplish this we would like to have 12-16 teams registered and at least 6-8 of those willing to compete in the recreational division. Your early registration will be helpful in determining whether we would be able to offer divisional play.

There will also be affordable food available with all proceeds going to support the Mid-Western Children’s Home.

We look forward to your team’s early registration. Remember these points:

The entry fee is $250 per team on or before February 23^rd. After that date the entry cost is $300
Each team is to consist of no more than 15 members per game. Potentially 15 jerseys maximum per team.
The registration form is to include all team member’s names as well as their addresses and jersey size
We will have “competitive’ and “recreational” divisions if entries will allow it. Please check the appropriate box to tell us which division your team wishes to compete in.
Top teams from last year will be divided into respective pools and each pool filled out by random draw.

Concessions will be available with proceeds going to Mid-Western Children’s Home.

There will be plenty to do between now and the tournament so I ask that you contact me as soon as possible if you have any questions. I would encourage teams who have not yet participated to do so. Join us this year and be a part of a great time and a great program that benefits a great cause!

Suspension of Operations at Village Christian School

The Board of Trustees for Mid-Western Children’s Home in Pleasant Plain, Ohio decided in its February board meeting to suspend operations at Village Christain School at the end of the current school year for a period of three years. The basis for this decision was the financial status of operating the school with a deficit budget and the trustees’ commitment to maintain an overall fiscally sound pogram for the entire MWCH. The Children’s Home remains stable financially with continuing contributions from churches, individual and communities across the area. The Board of Trustees plans to review the economic situation during the three years to determine the feasibility of re-opening VCS. Please pray for the conitnued success of the students in their new school environment.
