New Pathways For Children Raises Over $70,000.00 at Benefit Dinner

FROM THE EXCUTIVE DIRECTOR…

The 2011 Benefit Dinner for New Pathways for Children was held on October 27, 2011, at the Broadway Church of Christ in Paducah. Approximately 290 people attended the event. The keynote speaker was Dr. Rick Burse, pulpit minister for the West Dyersburg Church of Christ. Two former residents of New Pathways also spoke.
After the dinner two groups entertained. Following the entertainment and keynote speech, those attending were given an opportunity to make a financial contribution to New Pathways. Approximately $27,000 was contributed during the dinner, however over $14,000 was given before the dinner. After the collection an announcement was made that the West Dyersburg Church of Christ was the mystery donor who had earlier pledged to give $25,000. After this announcement the total had reached about $66,000. When the auction was concluded and the final tally was made the 2011 Benefit Dinner had raised just a little over $70,000.
Several weeks before the dinner it was decided that Ms. Emma Belle Gardner would be honored for her support and long service to New Pathways for Children. At the last minute we had to improvise due to her illness. She was hospitilized for several days. However, she was honored in a very nice way by those attending.
Eldon and Emma Belle Gardner donated the land on which the two houses for boys were built. Eldon died in 2001 but Emma Belle has continued her interest in promoting New Pathways. A few years ago Emma Belle loaned $160,000 to New Pathways for construction and operational costs, and just this year forgave all that debt. It is not surprising to those who know the whole story that the boy’s campus is called “The Gardner Campus.”

Thursday, November 3rd their annual CFS Benefit Dinner will be held. CFS is about helping children and families in crisis through their licensed counseling, crisis pregnancy, and adoption services. Come hear how God is working through our “3” life changing ministries.
Special speakers will include Carey Casey, CEO of the Kansas City-based National Center for Fathering and Terri Gake, M.S. author of “Heart of a Birth mom.” Carey currently serves on the White House Task Force on Fatherhood and Healthy Families and is a member of the executive committee of the National Fatherhood Leaders Group. He has written 2 books, “21-Day Dad’ Challenge” and “Championship Fathering – How to Win at Being A Dad.”
Terri will be speaking about the special challenges that birthmothers face. Her book uses the Bible and inspiring applicable devotions to
-offer encouragement in the force of doubt and grief
- offer love in spite of how birth moms view themselves
- reflect the light of a holy God to challenge readers to explore a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
