Texas Tech University Works With Children’s Home of Lubbock

Mason Cottage Kitchen Renovation
TTU MBA Students Community Involvement Project

Each semester Dr. Cogliser, a management professor at Texas Tech University, challenges her Masters in Business Administration students to get involved with the community. One of the requirements of her class is a service-learning project, where the students are able to put their business skills to use in an effort to support the community. This project forms a symbiotic relationship that is beneficial to both the students and the community service organizations they serve.

Our group has decided to work with the Children’s Home of Lubbock. The Mason Cottage, one of the most important buildings on the Children’s Home campus, is the assessment/emergency care center. Here, children are brought into the home 24 hours a day, often under extremely stressful circumstances. The Mason building serves approximately 200 children per year and has a kitchen that is in dire need of renovations. This is the challenge we have decided to take on.

The estimated cost of the renovation is $5,000. This estimate will cover the price of new cabinets, countertops, and backsplash; we are currently trying to raise the funds to complete the project. Any type of donation would be greatly appreciated by the students, the Children’s home, and more importantly by the kids. We thank you in advance for your donation. If you have any questions about the renovation please feel free to contact Ryan Kelly at 972-746-1092 or email at ryan.kelley@ttu.edu.
