Letter From 14 Year Old Chelsie as She Leaves Children’s Homes, Inc. in Paragould

chelsie Paragould

Saying Goodbye…
One of our young ladies returns home
Chelsie is a bright, engaging 14-year-old young lady with big plans and an even bigger smile. (That’s her in the center of the photo, chatting with friends from the Center Hill Church of Christ at a reception in her honor.) She has a great sense of humor and a gift for conversation, and she’s matured greatly in her time at Children’s Homes. With both joy and a bit of sadness, the time has come for her to return to her family. We’re proud of her growth and progress, and while we’re happy to see her return home to a bright future, we’re sad to know that we won’t get to see her regularly. She wrote a goodbye letter to us, and we want to share part of that letter with you:

“As I stop and think, each time I’ve had a rough day I look up at some point and you bring a smile to my face. It truly is hard to picture that my life has made a complete 180, and it is for the best. Not just for God, but for my family and myself. When you have just given me a hug or a smile, that small thing helped me better myself each time. There will never be never be enough words in the world to explain my gratitude to you and how thankful I am for you and your help.

“Out of everything that I have learned, I think the one thing that has brought me so far is that I came to acknowledge that people do care for my life and me. It took me a long time to learn all this, but in the long run it has been a worthwhile journey. … My life is worth way more than what I had given myself credit for.”

What a beautiful letter. Chelsie, you are fearfully and wonderfully made by our creator, don’t ever forget that.
