Hilton Worldwide’s Memphis Operations Center to Support Agape Child & Family Services
(Memphis, TN) – Hilton Worldwide’s Memphis Operations Center recently announced its selection of Agape Child & Family Services as one of five partner organizations it will support in 2010. As part of that support, Hilton presented Agape with a check for $21,000 which will help fund its Powerlines Community Network, which is aligned with the office’s mission to help break the cycle of poverty and homelessness in the Memphis community through education and life skill development programs.
The mission of Agape’s Powerlines Community Network is to connect at-risk neighborhoods with the resources that will help create a more nurturing environment for children and families in those communities. Through Powerlines, Agape plans to serve up to 20 communities by 2015. Agape and its collaborative Powerlines partners are currently serving in four highly impoverished sites/communities including Whitehaven, Hickory Hill, Beltline Community and South Memphis (38126 zip code).
A portion of Hilton’s donation will provide funding to support services and volunteers for the site-based services in the Bent Tree apartments in Whitehaven, one of the highest need communities in Memphis. At Bent Tree, Agape will also expand its highly successful Families in Transition (FIT) program to serve an additional 20 homeless, pregnant mothers and their children. Through these efforts, at least 600 children and their families will be served in the funding year through a range of professional and volunteer services at Bent Tree. In addition Hilton also plans to provide volunteers and in-kind gifts (such as furniture and other supplies) to Agape and its clients.
