Agape’s FIT Program Expands with
Grand Opening of Bent Tree Campus!
Agape’s Families in Transition (FIT) Program recently expanded to serve 20 additional homeless, pregnant women and their children via the grand opening of its campus at the Bent Tree Apartment Community in Whitehaven. Prior to that expansion, Agape’s FIT Program served 15 homeless, pregnant mothers and their children. The Honorable A C Wharton attended and made remarks to the crowd of Agape team members, board members, supporters and volunteers; as well as those served by FIT.
Agape’s FIT Program serves homeless, pregnant women and their children by providing housing and job skills training while reconnecting them with their family and other important relationships. During their time at the FIT campus, residents are required to save 30% of their income. For the past 5 years, FIT has achieved an 83% success rate for the previously homeless women leaving the program and entering into their own permanent home. Agape is the only agency in Memphis serving the population of homeless, pregnant women long term.
“Through this expansion, we have more than doubled our capacity to serve those in need through our FIT Program,” says David Jordan, Executive Director of Agape Child & Family Services. “This expansion could not be possible without the generous support of several local businesses and foundations and our partnership with various local organizations that allow us to reach the areas of great need in our community, including Hilton Worldwide.”
