“Teddy Bear Mom” Brings Joy to Children
Hearing about how Agape Villages serves children in foster care, one caring person turned her hobby into a ministry. Julie Whitten, a resident of Berkeley, California, loves teddy bears. She realized how special they can be to children. So, she had an idea. While visiting flea markets, garage sales, the Salvation Army and even Goodwill, she searched for all the teddy bears she could find. Julie would then transform these used teddy bears into beautiful creatures! She gently scrubs them, combs them carefully, delicately sews any wounded appendages and gives them what we may call an “extreme makeover!” Each one gets a loving hug as she welcomes them into her
collection. Next, she donates them to children. Julie has donated over 200 so far to Agape Villages. She is known affectionately to us as our “Teddy Bear Mom!”
